Hexagon selected by Munich for shared mobility solution

The mobility department of Munich, Germany, has selected Hexagon Geospatial to implement a smart monitoring system to better manage and understand the impacts of shared mobility services in the city. 
Hexagon will partner with Fujitsu to provide Munich a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution for tracking, visualizing and analyzing internet of things (IoT) data from a variety of mobility providers. The solution will monitor shared vehicles, such as e-scooters, bikes and cars, and will be the first of its kind in Germany.

The solution will also feature a dynamic digital twin of the city, allowing users to fuse the real and digital worlds and receive constant updates. Along with Hexagon’s M.App Enterprise software, Fujitsu will provide the necessary infrastructure for the project, which is designed to evolve constantly according to officials’ needs.
Hexagon was selected from among 14 competitors based on the technical completeness and capabilities of its offering and established expertise in the transportation domain. With this smart monitoring system in place, the city can continually monitor and guide future mobility concepts based on data.

Weight-in-Motion: A new system for Brunei by SWARCO

The system will be installed at the access ramps of the two lanes of Temburong Bridge, for each direction. Each lane will be equipped with 4 WIM stripes. The pavement characteristic and the road geometry will be in accordance with COAST 323 to meet the B+ (7) accuracy for preselection.
The system, implemented in cooperation with the local system integrator Automac – Multiresources Sdn Bhd, will be combined with a traffic detection and classification system and with a VMS based traffic information system driven by bridge located weather measurement stations.

5T: 2021-2023 industrial plan approved, smart mobility and innovation are the key words
The 2021-2023 Industrial Plan of 5T SRL, an in-house company that deals with systems and services for mobility on behalf of the Piedmont Region, the Municipality of Turin and the Metropolitan City of Turin, and TTS Italia ordinary member, has been approved. “Arena del Futuro” project: zero emissions target
IVECO, Politecnico di Milano, Tim, Stellantis, TTS Italia ordinary members, Autostrada A35 Brebemi-Aleatica, ABB, Electreon, FIAMM Energy Technology, IVECO Bus, Mapei, Pizzarotti, Prysmian, Roma Tre University and Parma University have announced a collaboration aimed at creating the conditions for the development of an innovative zero-emission mobility system for people and goods along motorway transport corridors.
This consortium will work jointly in the coming months to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of technologies related to powering electric cars, buses and commercial vehicles by contactless dynamic inductive charging. The uniqueness of the project is to see a pool of important international industrial companies jointly taking the field for the first time in the world, flanked by prestigious universities and institutions, with the aim of analyzing all the data that will emerge during the coming months of work and study related to this futuristic technology.
In particular, the "Arena del Futuro" project includes:
- the construction of a 1,050-meter asphalt ring fed with an electrical power of 1MW, called the "Arena of the Future", located in a private area of the A35 motorway near the Chiari Ovest exit
- the application of "Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer" technology to different ranges of electric vehicles in a static and dynamic environment
- advanced connectivity through 5G and IoT (Internet of Things) technologies to ensure maximum road safety and optimize the productivity of commercial vehicles
- the optimization of the road pavement in order to make it more durable and not alter the efficiency of the inductive charge.

Movyon and A4 Mobility win a tender for the toll
Autostrade Tech S.p.A. (MOVYON) and A4 Mobility S.r.l., TTS Italia founding members, have won the tender issued by CAV S.p.A. in RTI. for the supply and the three-year maintenance service of the equipment of toll collection systems. In addition to the correct functioning of the complete systems present on the slopes, the RTI will guarantee the supply and maintenance of new automatic toll booths provided by the Concessionaire within its technological updating plans.

New AEP publications: AEP solutions for Turin public transport and multisuppliers Systems
AEP, TTS Italia ordinary member, dedicates a new publication to the electronic ticketing system created for the Torinese Trasporti Group (GTT) and the City of Turin. The system is based on AFCS, a general software platform, complete with applications, data structures, user interfaces, security and communication mechanisms, designed to be customized according to the architecture provided for each project where it is used. AFCS represents an important evolution of SBME, the AEP system previously created for the management of ticketing of local public transport in the urban and interurban area of Milan.

This has been done according to the OpenMove road map, designed for proactively providing to our National and International Customers what they are seeking, and anticipating new market trends. This new membership has been preceded by those related to Club Italia and TTS Italia. The aim is to promote the Buddy by Viasat device to prevent children from being left in the car. A phenomenon that, over the years, has made many victims among children, falling into despair entire families destroyed by the pain of an involuntary distraction. The facts always follow the same tragic sequence, with a parent forgetting their child in the car. A tragedy that is so often in the national news, amplified by social networks. There is also a scientific explanation called dissociative amnesia, a memory lapse, most often caused by stress or hurry. Smart Mobility and Smart Road: an open-air laboratory in Turin
Testing technologies and solutions for the implementation of projects in support of sustainable urban mobility, in favor of citizens and businesses of future Smart Cities. This is the objective of the experimental laboratory created thanks to the "GAMMA PI" partnership between the Politecnico di Torino, TTS Italia ordinary member, and the companies AD Consulting Group, Danisi Engineering, Addfor, SMA (Smart Mobility Agency) and the collaboration of Axis Communications.
The aim of the project is to offer the automotive sector, including the international one, and municipal administrations, a laboratory in the city of Turin for experimentation, research, certification activities, in order to contribute to the development of urban innovation and foster the digital revolution applied to mobility. and automotive. The project also aims to develop services related to intelligent and connected mobility, and to vehicles with assisted and automatic driving.
The first test was carried out last March with a city tour realized thanks to the logistical support of the Politecnico di Torino and the collaboration with Danisi Engineering, on the occasion of the dynamic presentation of the Automobili Pininfarina Battista, of a pre-series model of the hyper GT fully electric, designed in Italy.
Turin, in fact, will be able to host road tests in a dedicated city route that offers digital and interconnected infrastructure suitable for the needs of automotive companies wishing to experiment with their autonomous driving systems from a smart perspective.
To support the entire infrastructure, Axis Communications' intelligent camera circuit is installed for video surveillance, with images in HDTV quality. Through the integrated digital surveillance system, it is possible to keep the entire city under control; the equipment can act as sensors, transmitting useful data and information in real time.

Stellantis, Foxconn to Develop Breakthrough Digital Cockpits and Personalized Connected Services with Mobile Drive Joint Venture
Stellantis, TTS Italia ordinary member, and Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., (“Foxconn”) (TPE: 2317), together with its subsidiary FIH Mobile Ltd., (“FIH”) (HKG: 2038), announced the signing of a non-binding memorandum of understanding to form Mobile Drive, a 50/50 voting rights joint venture aimed at accelerating development timelines to bring innovative in-vehicle user experiences enabled by advanced consumer electronics, HMI interfaces and services that will exceed customer expectations. 
Mobile Drive will combine Stellantis’ global vehicle design and engineering expertise with Foxconn’s global development in the rapidly changing software and hardware realms of smartphones and consumer electronics. The combination will position Mobile Drive at the forefront of global efforts to deliver a new frontier of in-cabin information and entertainment capabilities, seamlessly connected inside and outside the vehicles in which they are installed.

Sustainable Transport Forum 2021 gathers world leaders to drive the shift to a fossil free transport
On 19 May, Scania, TTS Italia ordinary member, arranged the third Sustainable Transport Forum, this year as a live broadcast from Stockholm. The event brought together influential thought leaders and decision makers. Business leader, entrepreneur, philanthropist and early champion in the fight against global warming.
Professor Johan Rockström, one of the world's leading researchers on sustainability issues and director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, hosted the forum. Together with speakers and panellists representing governments, cities, international organisations and industry, Rockström led a dynamic event featuring a panel with industry leaders, a showcase of action-orientated sustainable transport initiatives and an in-depth keynote discussion.
In addition to Sir Richard Branson, speakers this year included internationally recognized names like Nigel Topping, UK’s High level Climate Action Champion, who is mobilizing non-state actors ahead of COP26, and Christiana Figueres, co-founder of Global Optimism and the driving force behind the Paris Agreement.
The transport sector accounts for a significant share of global CO2 emissions. With urbanisation and social and economic development, the need to transport people and goods increases. Targa Telematics mentioned in the Berg Insight report on carsharing
Targa Telematics, tech company that develops advanced digital platforms in smart mobility, and TTS Italia founding member, has been mentioned in the latest IoT analytics company, Berg Insight, report among the major IoT platform providers of carsharing services.
According to Berg Insight, notwithstanding the global pandemic, in 2020 carsharing services have grown by 10% and will continue to grow steadily in the next five years. The company estimates that by 2025, carsharing services will count for 971.000 vehicles (+16% yearly), involving 190,3 million people (with a yearly growth of +21,5%).
The services that carsharing companies have introduced in the last months, most of which complying with the latest user mobility requirements - such as the need for proximity tourism (such as longer domestic holiday rentals) or taking the car instead of public transportation or taxis - have seen the strategic role of telematics platform providers growing that, thanks to their innovations, allow the management of new services.

The University of Naples Federico II presents the new degree course "Transportation Engineering and Mobility"
The new master's degree course "Transportation Engineering And Mobility (TEAM)" of the University of Naples Federico II, TTS Italia ordinary member, was presented in these days.
The Degree Course will be at the service of the transformations that are affecting the transport and mobility sectors, helping to train the new generations of engineers and to develop the culture that innervates this revolution. It is a training course in English that sees the light after two years of gestation. The master's degree was born with the support of some actors like FS, Stellantis, Almaviva, TTS Italia ordinary members.
Academic, research, industrial, professional and high-level service personalities have provided advice to define elements regarding the actual employment potential of graduates. The result of the consultation highlighted a positive opinion towards the establishment of the Degree Program, with appreciation, in particular, of the context analysis underlying the activation proposal, of the cultural and training objectives, of the professional profiles identified, of the general framework of the training activities and the balanced articulation of the credits attributed to the various areas.
The Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility also confirmed its appreciation for the establishment of the new course, confirming a positive opinion with respect to the training course, the aims it pursues and the ways in which the objectives are implemented.
The course will stand out for its interdisciplinary nature, with contributions from the areas of measurement, data analysis and forecasting, ICT and industrial enabling technologies.

Tiemme: the new habits of users who choose smart, innovative and safe methods
The pandemic has digitized the purchasing habits of Tiemme users, TTS Italia ordinary member, who are increasingly inclined to choose innovative, smart and safe methods. In fact, in the year of Covid-19, Tiemme has indeed recorded a sharp decline in passengers on board its buses throughout the territory (on average minus 60% over the entire area of competence), but also consolidated the relationship between passengers and dematerialized payment tools, such as the online store on the tiemmespa.it website or on the Tiemme Mobile 2.0 App and, in particular, with Pay and Go, the innovative project that allows the purchase on board of city buses with contactless bank cards. The Pay and Go service, introduced in different phases on the Tiemme urban fleet starting from 2018, has recorded strong growth and loyalty extremely lively and continuous, despite the closures and the difficulty in accessing the validators imposed by the safety regulations linked to the pandemic.
The analysis of the data collected in 2020 highlights the peak of + 75% recorded in Siena in terms of purchase flows, with about 20% of passengers choosing this system as their second preferred purchasing method, after the traditional paper one. Turin likes Aep Ticketing Solutions' contactless EMV solution
In the last nine months 400,000 single tickets have been purchased in Turin, in contactless EMV mode, ie with bank cards used directly on board the bus and in the Metro, using the system provided by Aep Ticketing Solutions, TTS Italia ordinary member. The number of people who have relied on this new payment method is constantly growing: despite Covid and the consequent decrease in passengers, today 7% of purchases are made with contactless mode. The result is due to the simplicity and speed of use of the contactless EMV service, to the possibility of avoiding queuing at the ticket office together with the guaranteed security in the transaction. The numbers were presented by Aep Ticketing Solutions, leader in electronic ticketing, during the the "Next Generation Mobility" national event.
The contactless EMV system has been active from 10 July to today on Metro and five GTT surface lines and accepts bank cards from the Mastercard, Visa and American Express circuits. The purchase is also possible via virtualized card on a smartphone or smartwach device. Purchasing the ticket with the payment card is simple and intuitive for the customer: the card is brought up to the validator who immediately confirms the operation and, on the subway, unlocks the access gate. The charge is made directly to the current account on which the card used is placed and the customer has the possibility through a dedicated website to check the status of the trips made (gtt.easyticketing.it/cards). Checks by GTT customer assistants take place in respect of privacy: the passenger is required to communicate only the last 4 digits of the card to allow confirmation of the payment via the terminal provided to the staff.

MaaS for the EU Green Week 2021: the PriMaaS project event
PriMaaS Partners ITS Romania and eGovlab Stockolm University joint CIVINET Romania and Timisoara City Hall, for a two-day online conference on MaaS Solutions in prioritizing clean transport, on 2-3 of June 2021. The event will have a dedicated space in the #EUGREENWEEK calendar as a partner event.
The event will bring to the audience results and experiences from two European projects: PriMaaS (Interreg Europe) - Prioritizing low carbon mobility services for improving accessibility of citizens, also involving TTS Italia among partners, and Civitas Eccentric Munchen, as well as the efforts of #Timisoara and #Stockholm in this field.
The two-day online conference will tackle the ways in which MaaS (mobility as a service) can accelerate the shift towards net-zero greenhouse gas emission cities. Novel approaches towards carbon neutral cities require innovative actions toward low carbon transport. MaaS is a quiet new topic for Romanian cities and it is of great interest in the current context of making our cities more livable, lowering the impact on climate and improving local air quality with a direct benefit to public health.

TTS Italia at Next Generation Mobility event
The President of TTS Italia, Rossella Panero, was among the protagonists of the Next Generation Mobility, an event that discussed and laid the foundations for planning a city-centric mobility and of which TTS Italia was an Institutional Partner. In particular, President Panero took part in the opening session of the three days, dedicated to "Mobility as a service for the travel needs of each and every one". Panero's intervention focused on "Enabling technologies for MaaS".
Furthermore, as part of the Next Generation Mobility, TTS Italia, together with the University of Aveiro and the Liguria Region, organized the presentation Conference of the PriMaaS (Prioritizing low carbon mobility services for improving accessibility of citizens), a concrete example of the international activities of the project. to build a debate to explore the impacts and opportunities that can be generated by the introduction of MaaS on a large scale, and on how it can find diffusion within the various European territorial realities. Through the exchange of information and experiences by speakers of international importance, the event investigated the role of MaaS in the context of the pandemic and post-pandemic, and as a tool to support the decisions of local authorities.
